ATOME
The Access To Opioid Medication in Europe (ATOME) project was initiated by the Access to Controlled Medications Programme of WHO. It was a five-year project funded under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Community [FP7/2007-2013] under grant agreement n° 222994. The project consortium consisted of partners from the field of law, public health, palliative care and harm reduction.
The project investigated why opioid medicines for moderate to severe pain and for the treatment of opioid dependence are not used adequately in twelve European countries, and developed tailor-made solutions for improved access to opioid medicines in these countries.
The Prekursor Foundation (still operating as the Harm Reduction Foundation at the time) was an organizer and participant in a symposium on opioid use in Poland held in Warsaw in April 2014.
